Of juniors and maturity

Something happened yesterday that alerted me to how fast time flies pass and how.. arhem.. "matured" i already am..

Went back to Nanyang Girls' Boarding School yesterday to help out with the new batch of JCRC. So, as a good senior, i decided to meet up with the new juniors of Crescent. Apparently, one of them came from SMJK Kwang Hua too!

I saw her and i said, "Hmm.. Never saw you in Kwang Hua before."

She looked at me for a while and said, "When were you in Kwang Hua?"

I thought remained silent for a while, doing some mental calculations in my head. At last i replied," I was in Form 3 in 2006!"

"I was in Primary 6 in 2006!"

Yea..

It struck me then..

How "matured" i already am.. Seriously, form 3 doesn't feel that far away to me.. But, in reality, i guess it has been quite some time.

Analyzing Emily Dickinson's poems now. There are only two things in my mind:

1. Why on earth did i choose to study literature?

2. How on earth did she manage to write 1775 poems?

Inspiration.

Amanda gave me a photo of the Cambridge campus in UK. It's on the wall right in front of me now. Against a backdrop of blue skies with cottony white clouds and green fields, the building stands majestically, beckoning.. The photo of this particular university will suffice for now.

Back again!

I was wrong about the canteen lines. They were hideously long! In fact, so long that i decided to forgo lunch. That's what you get when the whole school is dismissed as a cohort.

What do you do if u have 5 cohorts of students (excluding J1s) under one institution? Take a leaf from Hwa Chong's book! Line them up on both sides of the road, from one end of the school to the other end (which spans three bus stops) to wave goodbye to our newly retired principal, who sits in an open top convertible waving farewell to us.

Brought my parents to eat cheap tasty chinese food near my school- Curry Wok =) They said it was tasty!

O level results came out today. I can't believe that only a year ago, i was the one feeling all tensed up in that hall.

After a month-long hiatus, school is finally starting again 2morrow. Reality struck me in the face as i realised that as of tomorrow, we will all officially be J2 students. How time flies! We reminisce about our own orientation days as if it was yesterday but in reality almost a year had passed by. School will be quite empty considering the fact that J1 students will not be starting school yet. 1 good thing i foresee for 2morrow is that the canteen lines will be short. That will be my consolation for now.

greener pastures

Ainan Celeste Cawley passsed the O-Level Chemistry paper here in Singapore when he was just seven years old- the youngest person to have passed the subject. Last year, when he was ten, he passed the AS Level Chemistry paper. Now, he is enrolled at Help University College in Kuala Lumpur. Why do i see the irony in this situation? Another case of "the grass always seems greener at the other side of the pasture".
